About Me

My dog training journey started when I was 11 years old. We got a Westie puppy named Barclay and my mom signed him up for puppy classes at our local pet store. We went every week and learned how to teach Barclay to sit, lay down, and walk on a leash nicely. I soaked it all up and even tried to teach him agility (although that was a very short-lived career that never left the backyard).

In 2016, I began studying for my certification and we adopted our first dog, Flynn. He was a great study buddy - he learned all the basic stuff pretty quickly, but his shyness posed a big challenge when it came to socializing and walking him. He became my inspiration to help shy and reactive dogs gain the confidence to live their best lives, all while using positive and force-free training methods.

I became a Certified Dog Trainer in 2017 and started working for Petco as a Dog Trainer early the next year. There, I got to meet a variety of dogs and teach groups as well as help pet parents solve their "problem" behaviors in privates.

Just when I thought I knew everything about training a puppy, we adopted Ellie in 2021 and she gave me a run for my money! She was part husky, part cattle dog, and part velociraptor - I had to think of creative ways to keep her brain busy so that she would not turn to more destructive ways of entertaining herself. And while she has slowed down a little bit, she still has that quintessential puppy energy.

In 2022, I started One Paw At A Time so that I could tailor my expertise to the needs of my pet parents and their pups. I currently live in Santa Clarita with my husband and our two fur babies, where I offer private sessions as well as dog walks.

I specialize in positive reinforcement training for dogs of all ages, including basic obedience cues, leash manners, proper socialization, confidence building, and reactivity.
